Interview with an Art Director and Founder of tracksfor.com

I interviewed Chad Kabigting and he is my godfather. Chad is a freelance art director/associate creative director in advertising. I looked it up in the dictionary and Freelance means "working for different companies at different times rather than being permanently employed by one company". I think that means he gets to choose the work that he gets to do and doesn't have to work all the time.

Chad is also the founder of a cool website named tracksfor.com. It has to do with twitter and music and play lists like the ones on your iPod. Chad is really funny and nice. He lives in Toronto now but a few years ago, my mom and I went to visit him in Vancouver. We had fun there.

I drew my picture and chad's picture and my mom outlined it in black marker and I coloured it in. Here is my interview:

The trampoline

It's thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and it is very nice weather for October. I'm having fun eating turkey and jumping on the trampoline with my friends. Here is a picture my mom took on her phone.

DIY wrapping paper

Me and my mom cut up potatoes and cut out designs. Then we stamped them on a long piece of brown paper. The next time someone has a birthday I'm going to wrap it in this paper.

Interview with a Teacher

I interviewed my best friends dad, Royan Lee. He is a really fun teacher and I wish I could be in his class one day but I can't because I don't go to his school. Mr. Lee is very creative and likes to use iPads and iPods in his classroom. He is an Apple educator. Mr. Lee is a very good singer and guitar player and he teaches us songs like "Waving Flag", "Rolling in the deep" and "Heart of Gold" so that we can do concerts for our families and friends. If you are in his class you are really, really lucky!!

You can visit his blog at spicylearning.wordpress.com for some really good information about teaching and the internet.

Here is our interview:

Cross-country team

This is the first year I'm allowed to join school teams so I decided to join cross-country. We trained during our lunch recess and ran around the school. We just had our meet the other day. I had to run 1km and the big kids ran longer 3.5km. It was harder than I thought but I am really happy I did it. I came in 18th place and there were 8 schools in it and more than 70 girls in my grade running. Our school did awesome and we came in 1st place and brought back 4 pennants to the school! I'm going to do cross-country again next year. Here is a video my mom took of me finishing the race.

I turned 9!

I had my birthday party at a ropes course and I invited 16 friends. We had to climb a really high pole and then teeter on a plank. I didn't go all the way up but I want to try it again one day. My mom even climbed it and she is afraid of heights. It was really fun.

The instructors were really funny because they made everyone sing Happy Birthday to me while I was hanging in the air. I hope everyone had a good time.

Interview with a Children's Book Editor

Some kids know what they want to be when they grow up like some want to be teachers or doctors or vetrenarians. My mom said when she was little she wanted to be an archetect or an accountant and she even wrote that in her grade 4 year book. I think I want to be an artist or a teacher when I am older and my mom told me there are many different jobs that relate to art and not just the painter or drawer kind but I don't know what they all are. I definitely hope to do get a job that is creative.

My mom gave me the idea to interview some of her friends so that I could get an idea of what types of jobs there are in the world.I think that is a good idea because it will give me more information and let me learn about the different jobs that I didn't know about.

Here is the first interview and I plan to do many more.

I did my first interview with Samantha Swenson last year. She is a children's book editor and likes to do crafty things (my mom told me that) and is very good at felting (I don't know what that is) and painting cartoon monsters. Here are my questions and down below are her answers.
